Certification in the Certification is designed to provide systems/agencies and their direct service staff with individualized one-to-one support so that staff acquire the core skills associated with the wraparound model. certification, once achieved, provides staff and leaders with confidence that services to youth and families with complex needs are provided by staff who have demonstrated core skills that reflect best practice according to the wraparound model. The certification process starts with an application that includes a self-assessment of staff and supervisor skills vis-à-vis wraparound practice competencies. Based on a collaborative review of the application and the self-assessment material with the applicant, a consultant from VVDB will propose an individualized plan for coaching direct service staff and supervisors so they strengthen and/or acquire core practice model skills. Coaching is provided in several ways, including: telephone/e-mail, by document review, one-to-one support with direct service staff, one-to-one support with the direct services staff and their supervisor, support provided to a small group of direct service staff, and "live" support of direct service staff with a service youth and family present. |

Application for certification and coaching support need not be linked to other training and technical support efforts (but often it is). Direct service staff who have experienced coaching support have reported that their practice skills were substantially improved as a result of this type of individualized support.
