Michele Stewart-Copes
Trainer Coach
Michele Stewart-Copes has managed high fidelity wraparound training and coaching efforts in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, and other sites. She holds a Master of Science degree in Guidance and Counseling and a Master degree in Social Work. |
As the Community Outreach Coordinator at the Connecticut State Department of Public Health, Office of Multicultural Health, she worked with the Multicultural Health Advisory Commission and the Connecticut Cross Cultural Training Committee to impact policy planning and development. She is a full-time wraparound trainer, lecturer, and coach for Vroon VanDenBerg.
As an adjunct professor, she teaches the Cultural Competency class in the Master of Public Health Program at Southern Connecticut State University. As a trainer with the World of Difference office of the Anti-Defamation League, she is working with Teachers and Students to increase diversity skills and acceptance. She is a Fellow of the Faith Based Community Development Leadership Institute appointed by Faith Works Connecticut Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives.
Michele developed and managed the nation's first and highly successful wraparound effort within an inner city area, focused on African American neighborhoods in Hartford, Connecticut. This program received national acclaim for its success in involving the faith-based community, local natural supports, and maintenance of high fidelity standards of wraparound practice. She began work with VVDB in the late 1990s and continues to travel and learn the art of supporting communities and agencies to learn the best wraparound practice possible.
