Vroon VanDenBerg, LLP (VVDB) is an innovative international consulting company that offers a full range of services and products to support communities to improve human services. These services include state and community mentoring, consultation and technical assistance, local and national training, research, evaluation, community assessment, information management systems, publications, training materials and wraparound practice certification. VVDB supports local communities, states, and provinces to develop and improve individualized services and integrated community-based approaches for children and families. VVDB is rooted in the traditions of individualized family-centered planning and support for children through the development and implementation of community level systems of care and the wraparound process. VVDB is dedicated to do whatever is needed to support the development and implementation of strengths-based, culturally competent, family-friendly systems and practices tailored to each community. |

How We Support Local Communities It is a fundamental belief of VVDB that almost all people that dedicate their lives to the service of children and families and almost all people in local communities want the best for children and families. We believe that communities have unique strengths and needs and should take different paths to be the best they can be. We believe that building on the strengths of the people of the local communities is the most effective way to support communities. Moving from the historical deficit based categorical model to a collaborative strength-based system of individualized supports for children and families is a significant change in the way people do things. Change is often met with resistance. For all of these reasons VVDB begins support for local communities by getting to know the strengths and priorities of each community. We then use this information to develop a collaborative plan of action. We provide consultation and technical assistance to community leaders, family representatives, managers, and providers in how to build on the strengths of the staff and community to meet localized goals developed and prioritized. We provide training for staff and supervisors in the strategies and techniques to meet these goals. All on site training is customized to local communities based on assessments. We provide support to assess current outcomes for children and families, costs, and process quality assurance. We support the development of the information management systems to support and better manage the systems. Many categorical services may be very effective, especially if allowed to be flexible and individualized. However, when categorical services and education are not effective, VVDB supports moving to greater individualization as opposed to movement to more restrictive and categorical services. VVDB has found that moving to a less categorical and more individualized system of care can be a difficult process for many communities.
