The first cohorts of the new Foundations of MiiWrap online course started in September. The first students are coaches, many of which currently coach or supervise wraparound staff. And some of the coaches are already are teaching MiiWrap classes of their own.
While we’ve listed some of the benefits of MiiWrap and our new training, our current students are kind enough to do the same. They are coaches who’ve used Wraparound for years. They’ve seen some of the cases where Wraparound has fallen short, and how the integration of Motivational Interviewing has the promise to fill this gap.
I am excited to be part of the training as I believe Miiwrap will enhance our services here in Calgary and provide better outcomes for the individuals and families we serve. Our organization is evolving in our practice and an integrated model makes us better practitioners. We have a great passion for the amazing success we have seen using High Fidelity Wraparound and can’t wait for the promising path this model will provide.
Some had also seen MiiWrap in action already and were excited for a training opportunity that allowed them to bring MiiWrap to their own practice and agencies. The online course makes MiiWrap accessible to more people. Our hope is to make MiiWrap available to any agency that sees a need.
I have seen how MiiWrap has changed lives. Families are able to be reunited, conflict that was driving family members apart is mitigated, and families are able to build self-efficacy to function outside of professional supports. I am so excited to be part of MiiWrap expansion that will be able to support more families resulting in life long positive change.
We know that good coaches are the key to good and sustainable services. Supporting coaches through our learning community and making agencies into learning organizations is integral to ongoing success. This course is the first link to our learning community, where coaches will support one another through the process and make a lasting community of ongoing development.
I am very excited to have found MiiWrap. The joining of Motivational Interviewing with Wraparound will be extremely beneficial in our work with youth and families. I know from experience that practice and effective coaching makes a real difference and so I am looking forward to getting that coaching assistance with Jim Rast himself, to really hone my skills so I can be the most effective coach that I can.
Coaches also saw themselves as the link to MiiWrap for their whole agency. A passionate, certified MiiWrap coach is a key part of agency self-sufficiency in training and providing MiiWrap.
Wraparound is in a period of evolution in Calgary with the need for more comprehensive Wrap services becoming urgent. This is an opportunity to marry two strongly identified needs – collaboration and awareness of change continuum, into a model that can be used across the board with individuals and families outside the world of Child Services but indeed within it as well. I cannot say how excited I am to ground myself and my passion for Wraparound into MiiWrap and bring the benefit of these skills to my entire agency. It’s like waiting many years for the sequel to a movie to come out and then it has finally arrived! Looking forward to this beautiful collaboration of Wraparound and Motivational Interviewing…two of my favorite things.
And ultimately, the purpose of MiiWrap is to provide the best services to the most people. Our coaches identified the power of MiiWrap to meet the needs of their communities. MiiWrap not only helps people in crisis, but builds stronger communities by building self-efficacy and motivation. Â
For me, MiiWrap combines two powerful approaches to helping families find their own way to heal and thrive. Learning how to guide other helpers to use these processes is one way I can be part of helping our tribal youth and families to envision themselves as resilient and strong.
